We have a developed and proven approach to assist your organization find improvement opportunities rapidly and effectively or can do custom consulting as required to assist your organization with specific issues you have identified.

Our Approach

Phase 1- Assess

Assessment

To provide your organization with the most complete guidance Constant Improvement will conduct a rapid assessment to find opportunities for radical performance gains as well as what can be classified as incremental performance gains.

If you ask a team member how they do something the result they give you will normally not be entirely correct, this is the result of the fact of how we do things largely out of behaviour as well as knowledge of the way we do an activity.

To get to the root of what is actually happening, not what management or executive may think is the case, a layered approach works the best consisting of a sequential series of steps:

  • Interviews, a discussion of the process with team member completing the process,
  • Diagramming, production of a visual diagram of the process, hand drawn or electronic,
  • Second Review With Team Member, a review of the completed diagram with the team member for revisions that may have been missed in the first interview and there will usually be many the diagram brings to light,
  • Update Of The Diagram, updating of the diagram to finalized actual state in hand drawn or electronic state ,
  • Executive Review Of The Actual State, a review with executive of the actual state of the process and what their view is of what it should be.

Alignment

This involves gathering feedback from other team members throughout the organization on the workflows to solicit ideas, suffestions and observations separated into 3 areas

  • What Works , what are the workflows that work and should be left untouched ,
  • What Is Broken , what is perceived as broken by both the workflow owner and other stakeholders throughout the organization,
  • Suggestions , from all over the organization and perspectives from others not directly related to the process,

Once the assessment is complete a set of opportunities will be compiled from all of the assessment work coupled with Constant Improvement's decades of insights, experience, and expertise.

Opportunities are then delivered to the executive or entrepreneurial team for evaluation and prioritization based on

  • Effect On The Organization, how big an impact will the improvement opportunity have to the organization, its customers, and it team members,
  • Cost To Business Benefit, what will be the payback to the organization for the investment,
  • Probability of Successful Implementation, based on current conditions what is the probability of a successful outcome and are there any barriers that need removed first

Phase 2 - Improve

Constant Improvement will then design and implement solutions and approaches in conjunction with your team members, management, executives from the priorities in the assessment phase.

Design

The solutions designed for your organization will be a co-operative effort between your team members, management, executives and Constant Improvement. and will take into account

  • Process Streamlining, re alignment of processes for simpler and faster execution,
  • Process Innovation, innovation of workflows to eliminate work requirements throughout the organization,
  • Technology and Software Optimization, a realignment of the use of technology, software, and it's related components,
  • Technology Upgrade, a realignment of the tools used to execute the business, for the purpose of enabling new opportunities.
  • Team Member Asset Optimization, based on team members maximizing the use of the existing workforce ,
  • Team Member Skill Sets Improvements, based on team members and skill set requirements to enable new improvements,
  • Management Structure & Team Optimization, the abilty of the management team and existing structure to manage the progess,
  • Measurement and Results, the abilty to monitor the outcome effectively
  • Documentation and Training Development, to transfer knowledge
  • Sustainability, can the improvements be sustained and managed by the team

Implementation

Implementation with your organization's team will vary depending on the internal resources and skill sets available. Constant Impovement's goal is to transfer all the necessary skills to your team members unless conditions preclude that outcome.

Constant Improvement will be there as required to support your organizations team every step of the way

Phase 3 - Maintain

Measurement

Once implementation is complete e will asist your organization and team to measure the results of the improvements based on the following

Understanding "Key Performance Indicators"

  • Picking KPI's an important task that should not be taken lightly,
  • KPI's measure the effectiveness of an item not always just the item itself,
  • Realtionship sometimes not directly apparent, between measurement items and effective triggers

Evaluating What To Measure Thats Actually Important

  • What is important to the firm or organization,
  • Purely performance numbers or addition of less precise factors,
  • Indirect measurement of some items may be required (one thing affects another),
  • Don't waste effort on measuring things just for the sake of it,
  • Measure things that can effect change
